All proceeds of the Jam Session go to the Willis Gap Community Center. The WGCC is available to rent for family, community, and church functions. Dobyn’s Creek Road takes cyclists over the course highpoint on Mayo Mountain where “King of The Mountain” is named, then its downhill from there back to Germanton, North Carolina.

The Homestead's annual spring festival will feature traditional Appalachian music. On the lawn, costumed crafters will demonstrate and sell traditional crafts. Other activities include a Civil War-Era living history exhibit that features medical practices and a “skirmish.”. Artwork will be on display, marionette productions, and minitheater productions throughout the day. Organized activities for children include games, face-painting, science-related projects by Virginia Museum of Natural History staff, and other fun things. Home-style foods, poetry reading, and the traditional Maypole dance complete the day.

October Festival is the biggest and best of all the events, with the homemade apple butter, which is made from early Friday morning until Saturday morning, when the party folks arrive. Many of the jars are still warm when the folks purchase them. The concession stand, with such things as hot dogs, soft drinks, candy bars, and home made cakes and pies, is open during the entire festival. Vendors of arts and crafts are lined up for your enjoyment and purchasing pleasures. Four different bluegrass bands, that play all day from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm or later, keep your toes tapping and the dancers active. If you like to dance this is the place, and if you don't it is still fun to listen to the music, and watch those that do. It is a fine fun event for old and young alike, and a fantastic family event. Bring your lawn chairs and a smile!

The 19th annual Celebration of Pride will unfold at beautiful John D. Hooker Field on the campus of Patrick County High School on Saturday, October 15 at 2 P.M. Numerous high school bands from across the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of North Carolina will flood into Patrick County for this annual musical celebration to compete for the prestigious William F. Pons, Jr. trophy. Pursuant to a proclamation by the Patrick County Board of Supervisors, the third Saturday of October of each year has been officially proclaimed as "Celebration of Pride Day" throughout the county. The beautiful fall foliage of the Blue Ridge Mountains provide a breathtaking backdrop for this annual musical festival.
